How to integrate Active Campaign with TryCall via Zapier

It’s an “If this… then that” scenario, and it happens seamlessly in the background once you’ve set it up.

Goals of this Article:

► To understand the common terms used by people using Zapier
► To know what is needed to setup the Integration with ActiveCampaign and TryCall.
► To be able to understand how to setup the Zapier Integration.
► To be able to make use of Zapier to connect the apps you know and love to build workflows, automate repetitive tasks, and save time.

If this is the first time you heard about Zapier, I suggest you visit the article below first for an introduction to Zapier integrations. If no introduction is needed, let us proceed.

First thing, let's understand some common terms used with Zapier

Zap

A Zap is an automated workflow between your apps. For example, you may have a Zap that saves your Gmail attachments to Dropbox and another Zap that saves emails that you star in Gmail to a text file. Zaps consist of at least two parts: a Trigger and one or more Actions.

Trigger

A Trigger is the event in an app that starts the Zap. Once you set up a Zap, Zapier will monitor the app for that event. For the "Save Gmail attachments to Dropbox" example, you can receive a lot of emails through your Gmail account, but the Zap is not triggered until an email contains an attachment.

Action

The Action is the event that completes the Zap. For the Gmail to Dropbox Zap example, the action is saving the Gmail attachment to Dropbox.

Task

Each piece of data you run through your Zap counts as a task. That means if your Zap adds 100 emails to Dropbox automatically, your Zap just performed 100 tasks. Every task your Zap performs is another task that you don't have to do manually. It's important to keep in mind the number of tasks your Zaps run, because it helps determine what Zapier plan is best for you.

Paths

Paths are Zapier's conditional logic tool. They let you build advanced workflows to run different actions based on conditions you decide.

Premium Apps

Some apps on Zapier are marked as "Premium" — to use these apps in your Zaps, you'll need to have a paid plan with Zapier.

Now let us prepare the things that we need for this integration

You need an Active Campaign account. You would need the API URL and API Key of your account located under Settings > Developer > API Access.

► You need a Zapier account. Since Active Campaign zap is not a premium app, you can use a free Zapier account for this. (More than 2 Step Zaps still need at least a Starter Zapier subscription)

► You need a TryCall account. You need to have enough credits to execute the campaigns and a subscription that will work with the amount of call traffic that needs to be completed per month.

Now we are ready!

Let us setup your Zap now

Now let us login to your TryCall account and navigate to the integration section and access the Zapier section.

Now take note of your TryCall Unique Key and click on the Orange button to use Zapier and you will be redirected to the Zap creation screen. Click on Create this Zap

(If you are not signed up or invited yet you might be asked to sign up and accept the invite)

Select Active Campaign from the application that you want as a trigger. (By Default it might be Trycall, just change it to Active Campaign since we want TryCall here to be the action not the Trigger)

Connect your Active Campaign account using the Active Campaign API URL and API Key you prepared awhile ago.

Select the appropriate trigger that you want then test and sample the step.

Now Let us add an action step and select TryCall from the list of Application.

Select the Action you want whether you want to send an SMS, Voicemail or a Pre-recorded message from your TryCall account.

Now this is a very simple 2-Step Zap and can be done with a free Zapier Subscription.

More complex automation with Filters, delays, paths and web hooks can be accomplished automating and connecting multiple zaps. You can also connect other applications in the Zap connecting your applications together.

Example if you want to send an SMS and Call after it triggers, just add another Action Step with a different action. This now is more than a 2-Step Zap and this requires a paid Zapier plan to use.

Feel free to reach out to us if you need to discuss anything regarding integration.
Zapier also has it's own knowledge base website if you want to find out more.
